"Unless you have witch craft or you have bionic vision or your eyes are X-Ray machines; how can you see what is inside an envelope if you didn’t look at it. How were you able to tell the quantum and the nature of the bribe if you hadn’t actually looked at it or in the worse case accepted it?" CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Board, Kojo Twum Boafo quizzed.
The NDC stalwart has challenged the immediate past moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Emmanuel Martey to name and shame the people he claims attempted to give him a bribe.
Kojo Twum Boafo dared Rev. Martey to expose the culprits or he will be left with no option than to report him to the Police.
Speaking on Radio Gold's "Alhaji and Alhaji", Kojo Twum Boafo expressed resentments over the allegations by the Reverend that some politicians attempted to offer him a bribe of 100000 dollars and a house to gag him.
The disclosure by Rev. Martey sparked controversy over the past week.
The renowned man of God claimed “politicians have tried all means to muzzle" him, including attempting to entice him with "fat envelopes containing $100, 000".
But the Ghana Free Zones Board CEO dismissed Rev. Martey's assertions saying he (Martey) has proven that it's not only politicians or the security forces that receive bribe but "right now, we are knowing that the other ‘ps’; the Pastors, they take it too.”
“…I’m challenging him. Come out and name the person. If what you’re saying is not a lie, come out and name the person…He, himself, has a lot of cobwebs in his cupboard.”
"What does a responsible leader of the Church do when somebody attempts to bribe you with that quantum of money? You call the Police not so. But instead you were looking for big dogs.
“Unless you have witch craft or you have bionic vision or your eyes are X-Ray machines; how can you see what is inside an envelope if you didn’t look at it. How were you able to tell the quantum and the nature of the bribe if you hadn’t actually looked at it or in the worse case accepted it?" he queried.
Addressing the media on the issue, Rev. Martey dared to speak out and stressed that he will not allow the "babies with sharp teeth" to drag his reputation through the mud.
Mr. Twum Boafo told the host of "Alhaji and Alhaji" that he is proud to be a member of the babies with sharp teeth but will not sit down for Rev. Martey to go scot free.
“I’m a proud member of the babies with sharp teeth and I work hard. 42% of salary goes to pay taxes. So, Rev. Martey is not the only person who pays tax. When he goes to Occupy Ghana meetings and he hears some certain characters who pretend like they’re the only people who pay tax, then he comes to regurgitate it. Doesn’t he know that when you climb the trotro, you pay tax? Doesn’t Rev. Martey know that when you enter a Shell shop and you buy condoms, you pay tax?
"...Rev. Martey should come out and tell us who gave him the bribe. And if he doesn’t I will write to the Police on his behalf and to CHRAJ on his behalf. Because this country needs to know that it’s not just politicians who are supposedly corrupt. It’s not just policemen who accept bribe."
