Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has visited victims of the recruitmemt stampede
The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has visited victims of the El-Wak recruitment stampede who are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.

"I visited the victims of the stampede who are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital," she stated.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Defence, Brogya Genfi, and the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General William Agyapong.
During the visit, she spent time with each patient, offering words of encouragement and assuring them of the government’s support as they continue their recovery.

She also commended the doctors, nurses, and medical staff for their swift response and dedicated care.

“Their commitment has been vital in stabilizing the situation during this difficult time,” she said.
The El-Wak stampede that occurred on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, affected 28 applicants, leaving 12 in critical condition, five receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit, and six confirmed dead.
A separate recruitment exercise in Kumasi also resulted in five injuries.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence has assured the public that enhanced safety measures will be put in place to prevent further incidents as investigations into the tragedy continue.
The government has since directed families of the six applicants who died during the stampede to submit names of qualified relatives for recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces. (GAF)
