The University Council for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has renewed the mandate of its Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akua Dickson.

The Council renewed her mandate at its 282nd regular meeting on June 20, 2024.

The renewal grants her two more terms, set to begin on August 1, 2024, and end on July 31, 2026.

MyNewsGh.com had earlier reported that she was being considered as the running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer in the 2024 elections.

This speculation arose because the processes for the renewal of her tenure had not been initiated, even though her tenure had ended.

Rita Akosua Dickson is a professor of Pharmacy who served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of KNUST. In 2020, she was appointed as the first female Vice Chancellor of KNUST.
