Prophet Daniel Nkansah, a former presidential aspirant and founder of the New Vision Pentecostal Church in Accra, has been found guilty by An Accra circuit court for conspiracy to cause unlawful damage.

However, the court, presided over by Justice Francis Obiri, says the controversial man of God cum politician will be sentenced tomorrow, May 6, 2015.

Prophet Nkansah, his son, Daniel Boahene Nkansah Jnr and eight others – two of who are currently on the run – are facing six counts of conspiracy to rob and robbery.

The other accused persons are Joseph Tetteh, James Quansah Afful, Otukunor Sackey, Emmanuel Salami Azumah, Samuel Kweku alias Sammy Tuga and Richard Annor Baidoo aka Anold.

They are said to have robbed Stephen Ped-Andam on February 1, 2014 of his Samsung S4 iPhone, Dell laptop with charger, cheque books, international driver’s licence, certificates, iPad 32GB and GH¢55,000.

Prophet Nkansah, in an alleged connivance with his son and the 10 others, are said to have made away with a Blackberry Q10 mobile phone and an amount of GH¢500 belonging to one Geshon Essel, while another person, Billy Apeku Ken, also claims his Samsung mobile phone, Dell laptop and GH¢750 were missing.

The fourth complainant, Isaac Tetteh Korgbey, is also accusing Prophet Nkansah and the others of the disappearance of his Dell laptop and Sony video camera. One Emmanuel Nana Kwaku Badu has complained of his missing wallet containing GH¢1,000 and I.D. cards.

Prophet Nkansah, his son and the others had all denied the charges.

But in delivering the judgement yesterday, Justice Obiri ruled out the intention of robbery in the case of Prophet Nkansah.

He said Prophet Nkansah had only engaged the other accused persons to either go and beat up the complainants or drive them away but not to rob them, adding that “that was not what A2 (Prophet Nkansah) had intended to do.”

The court rather said per a CCTV footage tendered in evidence, Afful and Otukunor were captured picking some items from the office of the complainants and accordingly charged them for robbery.

The trial judge said Tetteh, Azumah, Sammy Tuga and Anold would be convicted for the charge of conspiracy to cause damage and causing unlawful damage.

Prophet Nkansah’s son was slapped with the charge of conspiracy to cause damage and deferred sentencing of the father, the son and the seven others to May 6.

This, the trial judge explained, was for the police to conduct enquiries into their backgrounds to ascertain whether the accused persons had any criminal records.
