Prophet Daniel Yaw Nkansah, 2008 Presidential Candidate of the New Vision Party, has been granted GHC10 million bail with two sureties by the Accra High Court over alleged land fraud.

Nkansah, standing trial at Accra Circuit Court 10, secured the bail on Monday December 22, 2025, after two previous applications were refused.

He was first arraigned on December 8 and remanded to return on December 12, when his bail application citing hypertension and presumption of innocence was again denied.

Nkansah, directed to reappear on December 22, 2025, was absent, but his counsel informed the Court that bail had been secured at the High Court (Human Rights Division).

The prosecution opposed the bail, arguing that Nkansah was a flight risk, had failed to comply with previous bail terms, was under investigation in five cases, and that the land had already been sold to one Frank Osei.

It said that releasing him could facilitate further fraudulent activity.

Nkansah, 59, has denied taking USD500,000 and GH¢1,200,000 from Marian Nana Ama Adam under the pretext of securing a parcel of land at Cantonments.

The case has been adjourned to January 27, 2026.

Chief Superintendent of Police Alexander Odonkor, Head of the Police Legal and Prosecution Unit, told the Court that Madam Adam, the complainant, is a businesswoman residing at Roman Ridge, Accra, while the accused is a businessman and pastor residing at Tetegu, Accra.

Police said that in June 2025, Nkansah allegedly misrepresented to the complainant that he owned a 1.33‑acre land at Cantonments for a joint venture.

He claimed to have acquired the land from the late Emmanuel Gainsford and led the complainant and her husband to inspect it.

The prosecution stated that Nkansah demanded USD500,000 to obtain a building permit, a demolition order, compensate the stool with interest in the land, and pay legal fees.

The complainant and her husband paid the sum, plus GH¢1,200,000, to prepare the land for the project.

The Court heard that when the complainant later attempted construction, Kano Shipping Company Limited laid a rival claim and denied her access.

Attempts to resolve the matter failed, and Nkansah went into hiding.

Police investigations revealed that in 2018, Rona Construction Company Limited assigned the 1.33‑acre land to Kano Shipping Ghana Limited with the consent of the Lands Commission.

A deed of assignment dated March 15, 2023, was executed by Rona Construction, with Daniel Awuah acting for Kano Shipping and witnessed by lawyer Nana Adjoa Hackman.

In October 2024, Kano Shipping Ghana Limited registered the land and obtained Land Certificate Number GA.72901.

Further investigations indicated that the purported title of Emmanuel Gainsford originated from Kano Shipping but was denied by both Daniel Awuah Darko and Nana Adjoa Hackman.

Police stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
