Prosecution and defence in tussle over age of accused person

Cape Coast, March 15, GNA- Drama unfolded at the Cape Coast Circuit Court on Tuesday, when the prosecution and a defence counsel, argued over the actual age of a pupil who allegedly defiled a three-year old girl.

While the prosecution gave the age of the Isaac Adu, as 19, his counsel insisted that he was 16 and innocent of the charges against him.

Adu, who pleaded not guilty to defilement, was granted 20 million cedis bail with two sureties to be justified and is to reappear on Friday April 8.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo, told the court presided over Mr Mustapha Logoh that on February 19 the victim left home to play and when she returned her mother found semen on her left thigh. He said when her girl was questioned she said it was Adu who had sexually abused her.

A medical report indicated that the hymen of the girl had been ruptured.
