Under the leaderships of the Ex- Presidents, late John Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama from 2009-2016, there were so many evidence of abuse of incumbency and neglect of justice which led to the abuse of the rights of many people by some people believed to be affiliated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which was the ruling political party, and also by some employees of some government institutions notably the National Security Services who were perceived to be being used by the incumbent at that time.
Some of such examples are;
A. The harassment of Hon. Usurla Owusu Ekuful by some gang believed to be affiliated to the NDC during the 2012 biometric registration at Odododiodio.
B. The shooting of the Nkwanta North District Chief Executive (DCE) by some people perceived to be affiliated to the NDC.
C. The killings of some perceived New Patriotic Party (NPP) members at Agbobloshie by some people perceived to be affiliated to the NDC.
D. The ransack of the NPP headquarters by some perceived National Security Service men in uniform and some people perceived to be NDC members.
E. The abuse of demonstrators by the police, who led a demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC), which led to a man losing an eye.
F. The open disregard of the orders of the High Court by the BNI, when the court granted the three South Africans' bail after they were taken to court for training some private security personnels of the NPP.
G. The assault of NPP members and other inhabitants of Asutifi South Constituency by Naabu, the brother of Hon. Collins Dawda.
H. Others
Research by Critical Thinkers International (CTI) has revealed that the current growing tension in the country is mainly as a result of a retaliation desire of some people who believe they were denied justice after they have had their rights infringed on by some people who were believed to have been related to the previous regime, and so their desire now to seek for justice through their own means.
Moreover, our research proved that, it is either such people who suffered such abuse under the previous regime are served with justice or are given a platform to seek for justice or are educated on how and where to seek for justice, else bigger chaos or tension is likely to rock the nation in a near future.
The group will as a result through this like to appeal to people not to take the laws into their hands but rather seek justice through the law court or petition CHRAJ on their grievance, and for those without the funds to fund their case through the court, we will suggest to them the numerous human rights lawyers around who are in a desperation to extend a helping hand when the need be.
In Addition, concern citizens and Civil Society Organisations (CSO) should get involved to help get justice for those affected.
Also, we will hit on the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) to intensify its education of the people with regards to the institutions through which one can push his/her grievance and the avoidance of the taking of the laws into one's hand and its consequences.
Furthermore, CTI will appeal to the present government through the Interior Ministry, the Attorney General Ministry and the other relevant government institutions in relation to this issue to also help get the law abusers under the previous regime punished.
Thank you
Hhhmm, may God be praised always
