A number of prospective police recruits were left in a state of despair after realising they had been swindled by a fraudster posing as a recruiting syndicate.

They were left stranded at the Police Training School in Accra Saturday where they had come to begin their training sessions.

But they were told by police authorities they had not sanctioned any recruitment process.

Disappointed and dejected, they were sent back to their homes after paying over Ghc2000 each to the said fraudster.

The Police Service has begun investigating the incident but cautioned the public to be on alert for such fraudsters.

“People are to be very cautious and wary of fraudsters who going about in the name of police officers and recruiting people to join the police,” Supt. Cephas Arthur, director of police public affairs told Starr News.

“This is very crucial because it was pathetic seeing people coming from far and wide to commence their training which never ensued. We have begun our investigations into the incident in earnest and we are going to get to the bottom of it.”
