Prostitutes operating along the Nyiaeso road in the Kumasi metropolis have deserted the place following the alleged murder of one of their colleagues Sunday night.
The hookers, who usually line up the about one kilometre stretch of road from the Nhyiaeso Police station to the Ahodwo roundabout from 7:00PM to ply their trade, were missing Tuesday night.
TV3's Evans Nkum who toured the prostitution spot at the peak period [between 9:00PM and 11:00PM] Tuesday reported that the entire place has been deserted as not a single prostitute was seen along the stretch.
"Not even a single prostitute was spotted at the place," he said, adding the situation is largely attributed to the Sunday's murder of one of the prostitute whose name has only been given as Vivian.
It is unclear how long the prostitutes will stay away from the Nhyiaeso-Ahodwo roundabout which is one of the prostitution hotbed in Kumasi.
Vivian was allegedly murdered and dumped at Nhyiaeso power room of the Electricty Company of Ghana. Eyewitness told TV3 that Vivian who is in her mid twenties, is prostitute who has been operating in the Nhyiaeso area.
It was apparent that Vivian was strangled on the neck by her attacker leading to her death on Sunday night.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command is currently investigating the circumstances leading to death of Vivian who her colleagues suspect was murdered as bruises on her body suggested she was strangled by her attacker.
Her body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.
Meanwhile, no arrest have been made yet.
