Protectors of traditions and Asanteman and an amalgamation of Youth groups in the Ashanti region and beyond have indicated their readiness to give a rousing welcome to Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, when he returns from his trip abroad on Tuesday, 24th September, 2019, MyNewsGh.com reports.
The King would be returning from the United States of America (USA) after giving a keynote address on the Culture of Peace at the United Nations and several other international engagements in that country.
He is expected to touch down at the Kumasi Airport at 3 PM on Tuesday afternoon.
“Indeed, no African King, Monarch or Traditional Leader has ever been honoured with such a high platform to address the United Nations General Assembly. It is for this reason, and of course his stellar delivery on the occasion that we are embarking on this historic million march to give him that befitting hero’s welcome.
We call on all stakeholders, groups, associations, traditional institutions and everyone living everywhere under the Ashanti traditional areas to mobilize in their numbers as we welcome our hero”, a group calling itself Protectors of Traditions and Asanteman said in a press statement.
The Nkoranzaman Youth Association in the Bono East region, has also indicated in a press release that, it “owes it a duty to welcome King Otumfour Osei Tutu II back to his kingdom”.
The Worawora Youth and Ahafo Youth Associations have also gave their indication to participate in the welcome march.
The Kumasi Youth Association (KuYA) has however warned that, no political colours would be tolerated at the welcome parade.
