The Member of Parliament for Pru East Constituency, Emmanuel Kwaku Buam, has emphasized that his constituency remains ripe and ready to receive private investors, especially those interested in the agriculture sector.
Speaking to journalists in Parliament on Wednesday, January 9, 2025, the MP said investors ready to put their money into the constituency are not only assured of security on their investment but are also promised high returns.
He stressed his readiness to facilitate and lead investors into the area and assured them of the availability of resources such as arable land and human capital in the constituency.
“Any day, any time, I stand for the people of Pru East, and I will make sure that what we have, the potential we have, the natural resources that we have are duly harnessed. That is why I keep saying that agriculture is not only for the government. It is also for private individuals as well. I know of people in Ghana who are wealthy and are willing to enter into agriculture.
"I want to give them that assurance, that hope that should they turn their eyes to Pru East, their investments are fully assured and secured. Because we are going into partnership with the communities and making sure that they are actually pushing that course for them. We are giving them the assurance that when they come, the human resource, the human capital is more than necessary, it’s more than available.
"The youth are willing to work. That is what I say about my youth; they are not lazy. They are willing to work, but who is going to harness the potential that we have? And that is why we are calling for private partnerships, private developers, and private individuals who have farming as part of their bedrock.
"They should come to Pru East. We have vast arable lands, large hectares of land for both animal rearing and food crops; vegetables, legumes, anything you want to do, we are available for you,” he stated.
He described as unfortunate Ghana’s reliance on imports to meet the country’s food needs while noting some of the many advantages that come with ensuring investment and growth in the agriculture sector. He urged private investors to complement the government’s efforts in growing the sector.
