The Public Agenda reports in an inside page story that in a move to improve performance, make the Civil Service result-oriented and transparent, Chief Directors and their immediate subordinates at the various ministries and agencies, have signed performance contracts with their respective ministries. The rationale behind the move is part of an on-going capacity- building initiative. Dr Robert Dodoo, head of the Civil Service, is reported as saying that the scheme is meant to strengthen the Service and will specifically improve performance, ensure accountability, provide effective, timely and quality services to the government, public and sector shareholders.
