Publishers given 30 days to register

Accra, Jan. 24, GNA - The National Media Commission (NMC) on Tuesday asked proprietors or publishers of newspapers and publications who have not yet registered with it to do so within 30 days.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mr Paul Adu-Gyamfi, the Commission said it had come to its notice that some newspapers and publications being circulated in the country were not registered with the Commission as demanded by law.

The Commission reminded proprietors or publishers that it was an offence under section 8 (1) of CI 39 of 2003 to put any publication or newspaper into circulation without first registering it with the Commission and also failing to submit annual returns.
