The Queen mother of Ave-Havi in the Akatsi North District, Mama Aviakpui III, has appealed to citizens, corporate institutions, non-governmental organizations, benevolent individuals and the government to come to their aid.
She said the town had bad roads and poor drainage and that these had to be taken care of.
Mama Aviakpui told the GNA in an interview “Sometimes, I look at the town and ask myself, so when? Because the Ho to Aflao road, which runs through the town, has no drains, any time it rains heavily, almost the entire community is flooded.”
She said the reliance of rainfall for farming was also not helping and added that “For some time now, we do not get anything from our toils in the farm. We struggle with the hoe and cutlass just to be disappointed by the rains.”
Mama Aviakpui appealed for irrigation facilities and tractors to be supplied to the area in order to ease their burdens and frustrations.
She spoke about a water project in the town and said they needed 3,000 Ghana cedis to buy a poly tank and other materials for the project.
“As I speak, the community has very little in its coffers for this project to be done. We are struggling and we need support,” she said.
