Queen mothers sensitised on peer review mechanism

Kadjebi (V/R), April 25, GNA-Forty-five queen mothers in the Jasikan and newly created Biakoye districts have been sensitized on the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and educated on their role in strengthening the process at the local level.

This was at a day's workshop organised by Foundation for Democracy Awareness and Research (FODAR) in partnership with Hans Deidel Foundation.

Daniel Roland Mensah, Jasikan District Director of National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) and a Resource Person said identifiable groups in every district would elect a member to constitute a nine-member District Oversight Committee with the help of others to explain the APRM in their localities.

He underscored the importance of the APRM to deepening democracy in the country and urged queen-mothers to get involved in the process for the speedy development of their communities.

Mr. Mensah urged the queen mothers not to associate themselves with any political party and served as highly placed opinion leaders in their areas and empower others to take part in local governance.
