The Ghana Government Scholarship Students in India have described an earlier publication with the headline; "51 Ghanaian students on govt scholarship cry over neglect in India" an an untrue publication and is not an official document by the leadership nor the entirety of the student body.
This is according to a statement signed by the President of students body, Eugene Bennett, stating students have not been neglected, and since arrival in India both the High Commission and the Scholarship Secretariat have been interested in our welfare to date.
It was earlier reported that the students who have been in India since August 2019, say authorities failed to carry out a proper investigation on the institution they were to study at.
However, they only found out on arrival that the school, Godavari Institute to Engineering and Technology, was actually a college with an unhygienic environment.

Rejoinder: Media Publication on GhanaWeb
Following a media publication, cited on the 31 st March, 2020, I write that the said
news item, with caption “51 Ghanaian Students on Government Scholarship Cry over
Neglect in India”, is an untrue publication and is not an official document by the leadership nor the entirety of the student body.
To tackle few of the matters raised in the publication, the students in question a fifty(50), not fifty one (51) as mentioned. Transportation by rail from GIET to Lovely Professional University, was agreed upon after several meetings when the option of travelling by air was exhausted due to the student number and the weight of our luggage and hence it was not an imposition on students.
The stipends have not been hidden or denied the students, and the High Commission has been in touch with student leadership in finding a suitable mode of payment, since students do not have Indian bank accounts, movement is restricted and school administration is closed following a nationwide lockdown. The female students, consisting of ten undergraduates and one postgraduate, do not have sexual relations with other foreigners to fend for themselves. The structure of the school provides continuous surveillance and monitoring of all students, with keen interest in the female students.
This is the handiwork of an individual or a sect of individuals, with an agenda, and the allegations levelled are baseless and without proof.
Students have not been neglected, and since arrival in India both the High
Commission and the Scholarship Secretariat have been interested in our welfare to date.
I hereby render apology to all persons and parties that have been implicated in this publication and express regret for whatever mishap has been caused.
