RE-Joint Statement From NPP-USA And NPP-UK/Ireland

Whiles leading members of the NPP in Ghana are fighting each other over who got the biggest chunk of the campaign monies and squandered it or ‘bonked’ with it in eyes of Dr Kennedy Arthur, the others in the US and UK are openly exhibiting signs of memory loss. I guess this collaboration between the NPP in US and UK could have achieved better results, for example urging their party to confess to their crimes against Ghanaians and ask for forgiveness, but no, they are at it again spewing out more lies as usual.

The two most important branches of the NPP outside Ghana on Friday 12/02/10 published an article that can best be described as ‘joint mischief’. The NPP is alleging that Ghanaians only booted out NPP because they thought that both the NDC and NPP parties were the same. “To the voters, the NDC had had eight years from 1993 to 2000, and the NPP had also had eight years from 2001 to 2008. And since to their recollection they could not feel or touch any money when they dipped their hands in their pockets, changing from one party to another in government would not make that much of a difference” What kind of logic is this? If Ghanaians really believe NPP was the same as NPP they may not have voted out the NPP. Contrary to the ‘NPP logic’ Ghanaians voted out the NPP because of gross incompetence, mismanagement of the country and practice of corruption at high levels of the NPP government. As a matter of fact, Ghanaians voted for the NDC because they believe the NDC is capable of dealing with the concerns far better than the NPP.

The NPP admitted that they milked the country dry and there was less money in the pockets of the ordinary Ghanaian, “On the Economy For starters, if they could not feel or touch any money in their pockets under the NPP, it has gotten worse because now they have no pockets in which to dip their hands.” Well, the NPP knows they left Ghana’s economy only on ‘life support’, all the economic indicators were pointing to the wrong direction, budget deficit and inflation as high as Mountain Afadzato, the cedi fell as deep as the bottom of the Akosombo dam and like a careless businessman kept awarding contracts to their cronies without making any arrangements for how to pay for the contracts. The NPP government owed debt they did not pay and now the NDC government is paying debt they did not owe. The economy has stabilised under the NDC, budget deficit significantly down and still going down, inflation down and still going down, foreign direct investment into Ghana is on the rise. We are witnessing all the economic indicators pointing to the right direction, thanks to Ghanaians for having faith in President Mills and the NDC.The better Ghana Agenda is on stage. The NPP is suggesting that, it was the recklessness of the NDC that led to the unfortunate burning down of the building that used to house Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Well, the investigations are still going on but I overheard few whispers at Agbogbloshie market suggesting that some of the elephant species may be behind the incident to cover up their tracks. After all that ministry became the ‘rice ministry, etc under the elephant rule. The NDC government is currently overhauling the entire emergency response units within the country to resource them to be fit for purpose. The Ghana Fire service is now receiving the needed attention it deserves after eight years of neglect under the NPP.

The NPP is fixated on the name Rawlings, they cannot sell their story without lacing it with the name of our former president who some believe is the architect of our modern democracy. He is not perfect, I am not perfect and I believe the NPP can see how much imperfections exist among them. The NPP claims that, the call for accountability by all Ghanaians including President Rawlings amount to harassment. Well lets wait and see who is right on this one, I believe Ghana has been short changed in a lot of ways by some ‘fat elephants’ and they need to account for it.

I get so amazed when NPP talks about corruption. It is like a fish saying it does not like water. The NPP has allowed corruption to fester in Ghana to ‘biblical proportion’. From the day president Kufour declared that corruption existed since the days of Biblical Adam, the entire elephant fraternity went on a mission to ‘economically rape Ghana’ not a single week passed without allegations of corruption against all manner of people in the NPP administration. Even now that they are out of government, their sordid acts of corruption still reverberate at the very economic foundation of our country. They jump on the case of Mabey & Johnson as their evidence of corruption. Personally, I believe CHRAJ should speed up their investigations so we can establish the truth. I hope they will urge those from the NPP side who are alleged to have taken bribes from Mabey&Johnson to confess.

The NDC is meticulously investigating all allegations of corruption over the reigns of the NPP under the spirit of rule of law; we would not condone or shield any wrong doing. I believe Ghanaians still want answers to questions surrounding the building of presidential palace, Ghana@50, Ghana Airways, the attempt to handover Ghana’s oil to the NPP fraternity and many more.

The NDC would continue to provide accountable leadership, open to criticism from both within and outside of the party. President Mills and the NDC understand that, Ghanaians deserve better, which is why they voted the NPP out. We appreciate the opportunity and will do all it take to fulfil the aspirations of our people.

I urge the NPP to do a soul searching, confess their crimes against Ghana and ask for forgiveness. But most of all, they must stop the hypocrisy and the penchant for telling lies.

God Bless Us all.

Long Live Ghana
