RE: Owusu Bempah’s bodyguards seize TV3 journalist, beat him to pulp

The Glorious Word Power Ministries church has denied a publication by 3News.com alleging that a security team attached to its founder and leader assaulted a TV3 journalist on Saturday, August 10 2019.

The church in a rejoinder described the report as 'untrue' and a 'calculated attempt to defame Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah".

Below is the full rejoinder

Our attention has been drawn to a publication on 3News.com captioned as "Owusu Bempah's security detail seize TV3 journalist, beat him to pulp". The story further states that the so-called TV3 journalist had been "mauled by heavily built men identified as security guards of Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah without provocation".

We wish to state that the content of that story is untrue and has been calculated to defame Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah and discredit the health walk exercise undertaken by members of Glorious Chapel and rather disrupt the positive waves the health walk exercise is making.

The members of the church did not harm any person or destroy property throughout the entire exercise.

The exercise was carried out with heavy media coverage and same would have been reported by the media if anything of the sort mentioned in the story ever occurred.

We are very much disappointed in the Management of 3News.com for displaying such unprofessionalism in the performance of their duties for not giving audience to the Church before publishing their story.

The ethics of journalism and natural justice demands that before a story is published you hear the other side. We can confirm that no officer of 3News.com has called to ascertain the veracity of the story before publishing same.

Our Church does not encourage violence and the members of the church are not violent as the story want the public to believe.

We note that the participants of the health walk comported themselves very well and were advised.

May we also emphasize, that Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah is a responsible citizen and does not move around in town with security men to attack individuals walking on the street without cause.

That said, we affirm that there was an incident-free and violence- free health walk exercise this morning.

We entreat the general public to treat the said story with the contempt it deserves.
