Mr. John Agyekum Kufour, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed disappointment at the accusation of the National Reform Party (NRP) to the effect that he (Mr. Kufuor) was propagating falsehood against NRP and its functionaries.
In a signed statement reacting to the NRP statement published in yesterday's issued of the Daily Graphic, Mr. Kufuor debunked the NRP accusation, describing it as untrue and unfounded.
"Even when the general public was speculating about the NRP's motives when the party was formed, I refused to pass judgement on the party on the grounds that it was too early then to know," he said. According to Mr. Kufuor, the NPP with him as flagbearer has since found in the NRP a party worth of some co-operation and collaboration.
"Consequently, the NPP and NRP have been working together as members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC). We also sent a high powered delegation to your ongoing congress.
I personally with Dr. Edward Mahama, Dr. Wereko Brobbery of the UGM kyertwie Opoku and Mr. Peter Kpordgbe, both of the NRP, went together to the Electoral Commission over the recent poorly conducted registration exercise to lodge our joint complaints," he stressed.
He said that there were other forms of contacts being pursued by JAC "with the singular aim of enhancing the relationship among genuine opposition parties.
Mr. Kufuor said that even though he was shocked By the NRP charges, he nevertheless remained committed to a policy of positive co-operation with genuine opposition parties "with the singular aim of outstanding the NDC government this year through the ballot box."
"I hope, therefore, that Mr. Kpordugbe and his colleagues who share these views will reserve their opinions immediately.' He urged.
