Rachel Appoh makes donations towards coronavirus fight

A deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection under the erstwhile Mahama administration has made a presentation to the Gomoa Central Constituency to aid the fight against coronavirus.

Rachel Appoh on Saturday handed over Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, bowls and other sanitary items to the NDC parliamentary candidate of the area for onward distribution to the persons in the constituency.

The objective of the gesture is to make the items available to persons in the constituency and help in the battle against the virus.

Rachel Appoh reiterated the need for people to adhere strictly to the preventive directives issued by the Ghana Health Service.

She called on the ministries involved in the fight to be more proactive.

She was buoyant that with God on the country’s side the virus will not ravage the country like some nations.

“We have to fight against the virus and everyone must come on board. I’m urging everyone to support the fight. Our celebrities must do things for their various communities. In your own small way contribute fight the virus”.

“I will also urge the Gender Ministry to use the social welfare workers to reach out the aged and less privileged and sensitize them on the virus. Government should cushion the NCCE with funds to educate the people.

Receiving the items, the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Gomoa Central, Moses Jehu Appiah expressed gratitude to her but also appealed for more support for the constituency.

He also donated 600 pieces of hand sanitizers to the constituency.

So far, Ghana has recorded 141 cases with five confirmed deaths.

The government has as part of efforts to control the spread declared a two-week lockdown of some parts of Accra, Kumasi, Tema and Kasoa.

The lockdown takes effect from Monday, March 30.
