One-year-old Accra-based Radio XYZ 93.1 FM, has been adjudged by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) as the best Radio station that promoted “Peace, Democracy and Peace Building” in the year 2012.
The honour was bestowed on the young, but highly influential all-English speaking station located at Osu, in the capital city, for excellence and diligence in pushing the agenda of peace and democracy, especially during the 2012 general elections.
Radio XYZ 93.1 FM, although young, has proven to be a force to reckon with in the English-speaking radio industry.
XYZ, has, since its inception on December 30, 2011, rubbed shoulders with, and in most cases, ruffled its competitors - some of which have been in the industry for almost a decade and others over two decades - and proven itself a worthy competitor.
XYZ has received resounding accolade as a very credible, influential, decent and highly professional news station which operates on the cardinal principles of factual reportage with painstaking attention to balance, accuracy and timeliness.
It has religiously and consciously provided fair representation to all parties involved in all news worthy issues and remains neutral and non-judgmental in all its news and current affairs programming.
The station, which has decency as part of its core operating principles, abhors and does not allow insults, unsubstantiated allegations, personal attacks and character assassination on its airwaves.
Its website, www.radioxyzonline.com, is now the best reference point for breaking news as well as credible and timely news information, which is fed on by its competitors as well as several other news websites in Ghana and outside the country.
Radio XYZ 93.1 FM currently has 19 partner stations all over the country and can be heard in even the remotest parts of Ghana.
It is also in partnership with German international news house, Deutsche Welle (DW) as well as on www.voiceofafricaradio.com in London and also a partner of www.ghanaweb.com.
