Nsawam, Jan. 23, GNA - A severe rainstorm over the weekend ripped-off the roofs of a number of houses and school buildings at Nsawam and Adoagyiri in the Akuapem South District. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Nsawam on Wednesday, Mr Andrew Yaw Nyarko Adu, District Chief Executive, said the roof of the Methodist Junior High School block at Djankrom, which was ripped off left over 200 school children to take their classes under trees and in church buildings.
Nsawam, Jan. 23, GNA - A severe rainstorm over the weekend ripped-off the roofs of a number of houses and school buildings at Nsawam and Adoagyiri in the Akuapem South District. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Nsawam on Wednesday, Mr Andrew Yaw Nyarko Adu, District Chief Executive, said the roof of the Methodist Junior High School block at Djankrom, which was ripped off left over 200 school children to take their classes under trees and in church buildings. He said the only toilet constructed by the Local Government with HIPIC funds at Adoagyiri had its roofs blown off by the storm and destroyed a large quantity of farm produce in the area. Mr Nyarko Adu said there were no casualties but that damage would be estimated at several thousands of Ghana cedis. He appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), other relief agencies and philanthropists to come to the ad of the victims.
