Newly elected Member of Parliament for Nhyiaso in the Ashanti Region Kennedy Kankam has condemned the conduct of the security personnel who allegedly went to the residence of NDC National Organizer Kofi Adams in a bid to retrieve vehicles suspected belonging to the state.

According to former Ashanti Regional organiser who described the actions of the security men who undertook the exercise as ‘Rambo Style’, there are other civil ways of approaching the situation without necessarily invading the house in his absence.

He made these comments when he appeared on Onua Fm morning show ‘Yen Nsem Pa’ hosted by Bright Kwesi Asempa.

Reports were rife on both mainstream media and the social media on Wednesday as to how security men numbering about Fifteen armed men dressed in military fatigues, stormed the private residence of the main opposition National Democratic Congress' National Organizer, Kofi Adams, and seized all his vehicles in the company of four alleged National Security officers and personnel from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).

EX-President John Dramani Mahama has joined some well-meaning Ghanaians to condemn the actions of the alleged security men. Former President John Dramani Mahama on his Facebook wall refers to the action as “unprovoked attacks on NDC functionaries and supporters”, calling for an end to such actions.

However, Nhyiaso MP Kennedy Kankam said “We should not encourage such Rambo style of going to people’s home, the right procedure of securing a warrant and the appropriate document should be adhered to. The way they conducted themselves in the case of Kofi Adams was not the best.”

He maintained that Kofi Adams is a private citizen and if he is suspected to have done something wrong, the right procedure must be adopted, adding that invading his home without a warrant should not be encouraged.

He pleaded that the right methods should be used in retrieving suspected state properties without creating unnecessary suspicions of political witch hunting.
