Accra, - 11 June Samuel Owusu, a 20-year-old unemployed, has been jailed three years by an Accra Circuit Tribunal for raping a six-year-old girl. Owusu, who is also known as Paa Kow, pleaded not guilty when he first appeared before the tribunal chaired by Mr Charles Nyewolema, on January 12, last year. Police Chief Inspector Benedicta Akolgo told the tribunal that on 3 January, last year, Owusu who lived in the same neighbourhood as the victim, invited the girl to his room and had sex with her while her step father, Mr Henry Tetteh was asleep and the wife had gone to the market. According to the prosecution, Mr Tetteh heard the victim crying and when he confronted her, the girl told him about her ordeal with Owusu. The victim who was bleeding, was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where a medical report issued on her stated that her hymen had been broken.
