'Rapists' invade nursing training school; scare students

The Esiama Community Health Nursing Training School at Ellembelle in the Western region has been invaded by naked rapists and criminals carting away with valuable items of female students.

A student disclosed to Nyankonton Mu Nsem that the mode of operations of these naked men who wield offensive weapons attack them at night.

She said, "the naked rapists hide in the dark waiting for any unsuspecting victim to attack and because they wield offensive weapons, it becomes easier for them to sexually abuse us. If you are lucky and overpower them, then you will have to run without looking back."

The student who sounded worried said some of the students who manage to escape, suffer minor wounds from their attackers. She further revealed that, the men also concentrated on the theft of laptops, mobile phones and food items.

According to her, the school authorities have turned a deaf ear to their plight although they have reported the incident to management.

"We are forced to sleep in town because the campus is not safe for us anymore... Management have shown no concern over our plights which is very worrying. Maybe they are waiting for something bad to happen before they resolve the issue."

The students have hinted of parking out of campus if management of the school fails to resolve the issue.

A concern parent speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem said the situation is worrying and bizarre and has urged government to intervene quickly to foil the activities of these criminals.

She cited examples of some students who have suffered serious injuries in an attempt to escape from these hooligans.

She indicated that her daughter feared telling her about the incident because of her health condition.
