A day after her ex-husband took a new wife, Rasheeda Adams, former wife of the Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has revealed she packed out of their matrimonial home because of the “extremely abusive behaviour” of the legislator.

Media report Sunday suggested Ras Mubarak has married a second wife in line with Islamic tradition but the MP on Monday denied the report as inaccurate and explained he has only one wife.

He explained that his first wife, Rasheeda Adams, left him few weeks to the 2016 general elections, but the MP fell shot of details or reasons surrounding why the ex-wife left their matrimonial home.

“Let me put it on record that – though I am unapologetically a believer in polygamy and my religion, and my proud Dagbon tradition and culture permit polygamy, I just remarried yesterday after my wife then, packed out and sued for divorce a few weeks before the 2016 election,” Ras Mubarak explained in the Facebook post Monday.

Few hours after the MP’s post, the ex-wife also took to Facebook to explain why she ended her marriage with the MP who is also a former radio presenter and with whom she had two children.

She said though she has refrained from commenting on the marital issues, the level at which people are calling her to sympathise with her on the latest marriage of Ras Mubarak has forced her to open up on the issues surrounding her divorce.

“[The] said marriage has been over for more than a year, as we are now in court over custody matters. The marriage ended due to extremely abusive behavior from Mr. Mubarak towards me. We have not lived together for the last 1 year,” she claimed in the post.

She thus told those who have been calling her to “sympathise” with her “A man cannot have a second wife when he does not have a first, and I AM NOT HIS WIFE”.

Notwistanding everything, Ms. Adams said she was happy for Ras Mubarak “as the father of my children” and wished him and his new wife, Mrs. Huseina Mubarak a blissful marriage so the MP “completely forget my existence”.

She described the latest development as a relief, and sarcastically posited “No, I do not know his new wife, don’t ask me if she is his sister, I don’t know”.
