…As Pratt, Others Go Berserk
By Newman Dotse
The much-talked about National Democratic Party (NDP) has eventually emerged after fruitless attempts by some NDC party gurus led by Mr. Kwesi Pratt to reduce Rawlings, the founder of the dying NDC, to nothing to pave way for their plan of merging with the already dead CPP and later dropping the name NDC for CPP.
The gurus behind the above machination could not believe their ears on hearing the news about the formation of the new party that has already started making waves as foot soldiers of NDC resolved to ditch their party and join their mentor in the National Democratic Party to thwart the efforts of the ‘greedy bastards’ around the president who have developed long sticky, itchy hands, looting state coffers left, right and centre to enrich themselves and their family at the expense of the tax payers and the poor in society.
The news has hit them like a copper bullet because their plan was to use Rawlings as campaign “horse” for the forthcoming election and dump him after winning so they could use the next four years to smoothen the path for the revival of CPP; an idea which propels Mr. Kwesi Pratt, the professed CPP member, to continue working to demean the integrity of the former President Jerry John Rawlings.
When Boakye Gyan, the man who publicly declared his NPP affiliation prior to 2008 general election eventually joined NDC, everybody knows that his reason for joining the NDC Party was to reinforce the suspicion by Rawlings and his loyalists that the Professor Mills and Asiedu Nketia faction is re-enforcing its capacity to facilitate the alienation of the Rawlings’ from their own party. This followed by a sudden return of all the traitors who left the party prior to the 2000 elections and after the 2005 Koforidua congress simply because for them, Prof. Mills was at the time, a political novice that must not be rated over them. Unfortunately, all these people were disgustingly accepted without cognizance of the negative implications these people may bring to Party unity.
One of the negative implications of this is that, now NDC seems far away from the peace and unity that all well meaning Ghanaians were expecting to see in the party. With Professor Mills -Nketia faction re-enforcing their team with all the rebels of the NDC with the intention of further marginalizing the Rawlings’ while the Rawlings’ are not in any way showing any sign of bowing to their frustrations and marginalization; the ultimate result of this is that, NDC Party members will be laughing at the wrong side of their mouths all the way to opposition in January 2013, no matter the amount of money they are planning to sprinkle around to better their chances of retaining power.
This reminds me of what transpired at the Mantse Agbona rally of the party, where I witnessed mixed reactions surrounding the arrival of the professed humble and God fearing President Atta Mills, the uninspiring manner in which John Jinapor, the special aide to the Vice President and his colleagues tried to carry the party sympathizers along, the difficulty with which speaker after speaker, tried without success to charge up the atmosphere. Logical reasoning then informed me that the spirit of NDC is dead and rotten.
The impression of a wobbling group of rambling individuals bussed together to Mantse Agbona to give a resemblance of a gargantuan rally, manifested in a large number of individuals who stood unconcerned about whatever was going on.
There is a theoretical lack of trust and confidence in the current government by majority of the party’s supporters; and this mistrust has deepened as a result of the ill treatment the Party Founder and former President Jerry John Rawlings is receiving on the orders of the greedy, lazy and selfish moles within the NDC Party, who call themselves politicians and think they own the party and the people there in.
The day of reckoning will certainly come when Ghanaians and the World will know the wicked and evil nation wreckers. But as for Rawlings, everything points to the fact that he is no longer comfortable in the NDC party, a party he formed with lots of toil while those dictating to the president today were gallivanting around like a ‘Billy goat’.
Did I hear Al-Hajj Newspaper saying it was reliably informed that some friendly foreign presidents in Latin America, North and South America, Western Europe, the Middle East and Africa have intervened via direct telephone conversations to appeal to the former first couple to change their minds? So, what is President Mills himself doing? Was President Mills sleeping when he said he will never go to Rawlings even if he (Rawlings) gives him oxygen?
Who says Rawlings has been kicking against the idea of forming a break away party from the NDC? Wait until the new party commences campaign.
For fear and anxiety, many NDC gurus are beginning to spew lies that the involvement of Rawlings in the formation of NDP was a mere speculation, just to maintain the identity of the NDC; but as people always say, we live to see. If you refuse to pay attention to the voice of the masses, you will stumble and fall flat.
