A former bodyguard of ex-President Rawlings has reportedly been picked up by security operatives. Warrant Officer Imoro Salifu was picked up at his residence in Kumasi on Monday by 20 soldiers and two other plain-clothed men, who claimed to be Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) officials. His wife, Rose Kwofie says her efforts to know the whereabouts of the former presidential guard has yielded no results.

She told JOY FM that at about 4.30am on that fateful day, two BNI operatives entered their house and forcibly forced her husband who was only in pants into a car.

Forty-five minutes later, somebody called to inform her that her husband is being taken to Accra. Miss Kwofie said she followed to Accra and when she arrived at the BNI offices, she was made to fill a form stating her mission. However, after going through the necessary formalities, she was told that her husband was still in Kumasi.

She went back to Kumasi but the BNI officers insisted that her husband is in Accra. Till date, she does not know the whereabouts of her husband. When JOY FM contacted officials of the BNI in Accra, they denied knowledge of the arrest of the former bodyguard.
