After Threatening Law Suit…
After threatening a journalist of this newspaper and stating ahead of the publication that the office of the former President was going to sue this paper if it went ahead with a publication, aide of the Rawlingses and Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has shown a clean pair of heels from his own stated intentions!
The once absentee teacher of Adisadel College had threatened legal action against the Daily Searchlight after he had been approached to answer questions about the current abode of the Rawlingses. But answering questions about their intended court action yesterday on Joy FM, Mr. Adams rather chose to ran away from his earlier stated intentions, saying ‘the office of the former President Rawlings would not go and wear any credit around a credit-less newspaper and its editor’.
This was after our Managing Editor (Ken Kuranchie) on the same medium offered Kofi Adams the opportunity to do anything that is satisfying to his bosses whilst the newspaper still stood by the story.
When asked by the news anchor whether it is true that a reporter from this newspaper had called him to confirm or deny the story, the credible aide to Rawlingses said “this is the problem I have with the media in this country, is this what you call media, you have a story then you call me to deny or confirm and you go ahead and publish the story”.
Ironically, it was this same aide who denied a report by this newspaper to the effect that his bosses has been paid $5million to resituate their cocoa processing factory just within six months of the Atta Mills administration coming into power but later retreated to confirm the story when the government kept silent over the issue.
It would be re-called that yesterday’s edition of this newspaper led with a story that “Rawlings Enjoys Ghana@50 Benefits!” where it was stated that the Atta Mills government has allocated three (3) of the plush buildings located at La Wireless to house former President, Jerry Rawlings.
The story further stated that “this paper gathers that when the former President arrived from his recent jaunt abroad in the wee hours of Sunday morning, 2nd May, 2010, he went straight to his new home.
We are told by our reliable sources that the wife of the former President, Nana Konadu, after welcoming her husband in the early morning hours of Sunday was in the company of the former President at the AU village the whole of Monday, 3rd May, 2010 receiving visitors”.
The story further captured the ranting of the aide when he was contracted and said “tell your source that he is an idiot”.
He stressed that “if you go ahead and write anything about the former President, you are going to meet me in court because your paper is noted for writing negative things about him”.
