An Accra Fast Track High Court (FTHC) presided over by his Lordship, justice Baffoe-Bonney today adjourned the Republic versus Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and others case to 8th, 9th and 10th May, 2007.

The case was supposed to be heard today at 10am but the staff of the Judicial Service including the judges held an emergency meeting in the morning, coupled with lack of power in court for recording of proceedings, prompting adjournment of the case.

The accused persons; Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, former 1st Lady, Mr. Emmanuel Agbodo, former DIC Boss, Mrs, Sherry Ayittey, former Boss of GIHOC, among others were present in court.

Other high ranking NDC party members were also there to express solidarity to their colleagues being tried. Some of the NDC big-shots were Hon. Alban Bagbin, Minority Leader, Hon. Doe Adjaho, MP for Avenor, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Tamale South MP and many others.

Nana Agyemang Konadu’s mother and other family members were also present. Conspicuous was the absence of the former president, Flt Lt. (Dr.) Jerry John Rawlings who usually accompanies his ‘sweet heart” to court. As usual some NDC die-hard members were also spotted around the court singing and dancing in solidarity with the accused persons who are high ranking NDC members especially Nana Konadu and Mr. Kwame Peprah, former finance minister.

They are standing trial for allegedly causing financial loss of billions of cedis to the state in the divestiture of Nsawam Cannery. They have all pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
