Asiamah, has unleashed sizzling venom on former President Jerry Rawlings, describing him as an empty headed man who has nothing more to offer this nation.
?What ideas has he got to give Ghanaians?? he queried saying Rawlings?own National Democratic Congress (NDC) party members are becoming fed up with his superfluous outbursts.
In a blazing interview with this paper at his party?s headquarters last week, Asiamah said Ghanaians expected the former President to behave as a matured and responsible senior citizen of this country because ?as the only surviving former Head of State? he is supposed to be the father of the nation?.
He also proffered what he termed an advice to the former President: He should allow the ex-President to take the back seat for NDC flagbearer Prof. Atta Mills to take the frontal role in this year?s elections.
?I think he should allow other people in his own party to rule this nation one day instead of him alone always wanting to run the show?, the NPP Youth Secretary said.
He argued that most Ghanaians have so far seen leadership with difference in President Kufuor, which proves that ?other capable Ghanaians are there who could equally deliver to uplift this nation?.
He strongly admonished that the former president should emulate renowned African leaders such as former South African President, Nelson Mandela, whose utterances and actions always unite the rainbow nation.
?If the Tony Aidoos are misbehaving, it?s okay but Rawlings should be seen as a unifying force in the country?, he contended, adding that Rawlings? image at the moment is very bad for Ghana.
A strategic planner and a University of Ghana, Legon graduate in Political Science and Geography, Asiamah, argues that Rawlings should allow Mills to play a frontal role because? if you are marketing a candidate and you have such a huge personality still making noises then you a big problem?.
He however argued that the NPP is not distracted by the former Head of State. Instead, the party has focused on the development of party structures to enable it win the December elections, he claims.
?We believe that when party functionaries are well trained, they can campaign well based on issues of national importance?.
Himself vying for the Atwima-Mponua constituency seat, Asiamah said his vision for his people would centre mainly on educational enhancement, creation of more jobs especially for the youth and infrastructure development.
?Members of Parliament should be resourceful enough to mobilise their people for more development?, adding that, he is confident he would capture the Atwima-Mponua seat since the incumbent MP has betrayed the people.
He said as an executive member of the party when all these problems were brought before him he decided to offer his services to the people concluding that he is a done deal context for him.
According to him, his ambition for contesting the seat was to redeem the sinking image of the NPP in the constituency, stressing that ?it is dying because the people see a betrayal of trust in the current MP?.
