Rawlings awarded Honorary Doctorate in Management

Accra June 7, GNA - Former President Jerry John Rawlings was at the weekend awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Management by GROUPE IAM (The African Institute of Management) at a ceremony in Dakar, Senegal. A statement issued and signed by Nana Afua Essuah-Mensah, Public Affairs Officer of the Former President's Office on Monday said the award "was in recognition of Ex-President Rawling's leadership qualities, which had made him a role model for the youth in Africa."

GROUPE IAM, is an International Institute which is in partnership with Quebec University in Canada, University of Texas and Laval University Group 3A, One of the biggest private Management Schools in France.

Other high profile persons decorated during the ceremony included Charles Konan Banny, the Governor of Central Bank of West African States, Mr Adana Dieng, Under-Secretary General of the United Nations International Criminal Court in Rwanda, Mr Babacar Ndiaye, former President of the African Development Bank and Professor Cheiek Modibo Diarra of Centre of Inter-Planetary Navigation of NASA, USA.

Former President Rawlings was accompanied by his wife, Nana Konadu, Mr Victor Smith, his Special Assistant and Dr Benjamin Kumbuor, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Lawra Nandom.

They have since returned home.
