Spokesperson of former President Rawlings, Mr. Kofi Adams, has debunked a publication alleging that his boss had a heated banter with his wife over comments by a leading member of Mrs. Rawlings' party.

The Al-Hajj newspaper on Tuesday reported that former President Rawlings screamed at his wife over the former first lady’s apparent protection of close aide, Ernest Owusu Bempah, whose recent comments appear to have implicated Mr Rawlings in the killing of some three judges in the past.

The paper claims Mr. Rawlings recently fumed at Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings over Owusu Bempah’s alleged death threat against the Supreme Court Judges sitting on opposition leader Nana Akufo Addo’s election fraud petition.

Mr Owusu Bempah is alleged by the paper to have said at a recent rally organized by pro-opposition pressure group LET MY VOTE COUNT ALLIANCE that the Justices will suffer the fate of three high court judges who were murdered during the PNDC era, if they fail to rule in favour of Nana Akufo Addo.

The paper says Mr Rawlings, who was Head of State during the murder of the judges is very angry about Owusu Bempah’s comment which appears to have cast a slur on his PNDC leadership.

But in an interview with XYZ News, Mr. Adams stated categorically that the allegation “is not true.”

He said the former first couple has not had any discussion on such a matter and that the former president could not have screamed on his wife who is currently out of the country.

Mr Adams however said the former president condemns any utterances that seek to prevent the justices from undertaking their constitutional mandate.
