Rawlings is visionary leader-GAME spokesperson

The Brong-Ahafo regional

spokesperson for GAME, Kwame Aning Frimpong, on Thursday night described former

president Rawlings as a visionary leader whose image under NDC would compel him

to stick to the party after his wife’s defeat in Saturday’s delegates’ congress.

Kwame Aning

was contributing to a panel discussion on the historic delegates’ congress on

Space FM’s special congress countdown show anchored by Hello FM’s Sampson

Nyamekye.

The GAME

spokesperson was justifying reasons why former president Rawlings would find it

difficult to quit the NDC in the event of his wife, former first lady Nana

Konadu Agyemang Rawlings losing the election to president Mills at the Sunyani

coronation park.

The submission

by the GAME spokesperson, who once worked for Space FM, saw the Brong-Ahafo

regional Coordinator for FONKAR, Chris Dugan, thanking the lord because for

once, a leading GAME official had openly admitted that former president Rawlings

is a huge personality in the NDC and would not easily quit as has been

suggested by some political commentators.

Meanwhile,

the heavy presence of police personnel and armoured vehicles to provide

security for delegates and observers at the congress, appear to be frightening

most residents of Sunyani.

The

residents complained that a simple congress to elect a flagbearer for the

ruling party should not attract so much security apparatus in a serene city

like Sunyani.

They argued

that the degree of security for the congress is an indication that the party

has admitted that the event could degenerate into anything violent.

Security disturbance

Security

personnel who stormed Sunyani early this week for the NDC delegates congress

are disturbing both residents and visitors with the indiscriminate blowing of sirens

and tooting of horns.

The

situation is so irritating that some residents were contemplating of reporting

the behavior of the security personnel to the regional minster but rescinded

their decision when it dawned on them that their concern would not be addressed.

The

movement of security vehicles through principal streets of Sunyani has really raised

questions about the professionalism with which they are expected to execute

their duties.
