It is the will of every leader to be remembered for positive things when he is no more. And as such, most leaders strive to leave behind legacies which would remain in history books forever.

But this was not said of the late former President John Evans Atta Mills. A quick scan through Dr. Nkrumah’s brain shows former President Mills left Ghana with no legacy before joining his ancestors.

Although the former president appointed Dr. Sekou Nkrumah to work in his administration, he claims his tenure did nothing monumental for the nation.

“When people talk about legacy, I can’t see any from the Prof. in terms of being president and leader of this country. He did practically nothing to change things,” he said.

In an interview with OKAY FM, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah said ex-president Rawlings made a huge mistake by imposing President Mills on the NDC. He claims that the nomination of Mills as Rawlings’ successor left members of the NDC stunned and caused a major upheaval in the party.

“Prof wasn’t politically a self made man. He did not work towards that responsibility - rather it came to him. And this made him perform abysmally”, he said.

In terms of ruling as president, Dr. Nkrumah believes that the late president should have gone for just one term and handed over to party members who were fit to carry the mantle.

“As president, he should have done just one term…he did a very poor job”, he concluded.
