Rawlings speaks against lies and vote buying in politics

Ahomahomasu (E/R), Nov. 27, GNA- Former President Jerry John Rawlings, has spoken against lies, falsehood and vote buying in Ghanaians politics.

He said such developments only promoted corruption and did not help the development of democracy in the country.

Flt Lt Rawlings (RTD) was speaking on the last day of his three-day tour of Eastern Region at Ahomahomasu in the Fanteakwa District. The last day of his tour also took him and his entourage to Kibi, New Tafo, Tinkong, Adawso and Mangoase.

"Truth and justice must be brought home", he said.

Flt Lt Rawlings mentioned some "lies and falsehoods" which he claimed had been politicised and used against him and said the "truth will always triumph over falsehood".

He urged the NDC functionaries to always talk about issues that could be achieved by the future government of the party, adding, "all indications point to the fact that the NDC would win the December elections"

Flt Lt Rawlings called on supporters of the party to be vigilant on the day of the elections to ensure that their will and that of the people of Ghana prevailed.

The National Organiser of NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, warned that the NDC would resist any attempt by the NPP to engage in illegal mass voter transfer to the Fanteakwa constituency.

He urged the people of Fanteakwa to be grateful to the former NDC Government for creating the district and extending electricity from five communities to almost all the communities in the district. He said it was the NDC Government, which started the tarring of the road from Osiem to Begoro and beyond.

At Mangoase in the Akropong constitutency, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Akropong, Mr Riche Agyemfra-Kumi, reminded the people that it was the NDC government, which extended electricity to the area and planned to extend the power to old Mangoase and surrounding communities. He said since 2000, the high-tension poles purchased by the NDC government were still lying idle.

He assured the people that when the NDC is voted into power, it would extend electricity to the surrounding communities and rehabilitate the roads in the area.
