Former president Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings is billed to address the 8th National Delegates’ Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The congress, which officially kicks off Saturday morning, will see the founder speaking to the over 4000 delegates assembled at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Rawlings’ address follows that of the Majority Leader in Parliament Alban Bagbin before president John Mahama takes the podium.
The party that was founded in 1992 will be electing new national executives – national chairman, vice chairpersons, national organiser, general secretary and his deputies as well as propaganda secretary.
Per the programme line-up, the speaker of parliament is expected to be the first to arrive, then the party’s founding father, the vice president before the president. After the national anthem, a prayer will be said before the national chairman officially opens the congress.
