New Abirem, Jan. 10, GNA- Former President Jerry John Rawlings has called on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to educate the youth of the party who are 18 years and above to register when the voters registers opens to enable them vote for the party to win the forth- coming general elections.

He advised them to be vigilant and united to prevent rigging of the elections by activists of the New Patriotic Party(NPP). The former President was addressing a crowd of supporters of the party from Birim North, Kwahu West and South Districts during a Cadre's forum at New Abirem.

He said they should not allow themselves to be enticed with money by the NPP to rig the election but intensify their campaign in the rural areas for the party to win the coming election and form the next government.

Former President Rawlings said the NPP's presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo would not win the election due to the mismanagement of the economy by the NPP government that had led to high cost of living and increased in educational fees at the tertiary levels. He said the essence of the revolution was relevant and urged the cadres to intensify their campaign in the rural communities and explained the policy of the NDC to the people for them to vote massively. The Deputy Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Ms. Anita Dusooso said the government's educational policies had failed the nation as 50 percent of the BECE candidates presented for the last exams failed due to inadequate teaching materials and poor remuneration of basic school teachers.

The former President later presented three packets of roofing sheets to the Gyaasehene of Adausena whose palace was burnt through fire outbreak two weeks ago.
