Rawlingses Have No Shares In AFGO

The Board of Directors of African Ground Operations (AFGO) has rebuffed rumours that former President Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu have shares in the company. They have consequently challenged whoever was not convinced by the statement to come for a perusal of the share certificates.

The Board Chairman of AFGO, Peter O’Boyle also noted that Marwan Traboulsi described, as a friend of the Rawlingses does not own shares in the company. He was once a consultant for AFGO but his services had already been dispensed off.

The AFGO Chairman told newsmen that the company was registered as a Ghanaian company after it won the cargo-handling contract. The company currently employs 500 Ghanaians and two expatriates.

He said AFGO secured the cargo handling contract through a genuine due process, satisfying all obligations required, including buying the tender document from GCAA and paying 35 million cedis in 1993 – which was $40,000 at the time.

The nine-member Board of Directors of AFGO include three Ghanaians.
