Dear Dr. Okoampa-Ahoofe,
I have read with shock and dismay your article captioned above in which you make a claim that Mr Steve Mallory, the Editor of the Africawatch Magazine, was on a mission to extort money from the Akufo-Addo presidential campaign and that I, Campaign Manager, rebuffed him and told him off and that as a result of this attempted extortion I referred to Mr Mallory as “a mercenary.” This is false. I have never had the occasion to rebuke Steve Mallory for what you alleged and I have not referred to him as a mercenary.
There has never been an occasion when Mr Mallory has attempted to extort money from the NPP Presidential Campaign of Akufo-Addo. And, I should repeat, that I am shocked that you would write such a thing.
Dr Okoampa-Ahoofe, I do not know you, I have never spoken to you, much less, discuss such matters with you. Indeed, if you pass by me, I would not be able to make you out as Dr. Okoampa-Ahoofe. What you allege in your article and attribute to me, I dare say, is a figment of your own imagination.
Furthermore, since you make reference to the Akufo-Addo campaign, I should say with all the authority I can muster that the “source” of your allegation could not relate to anyone associated with the Akufo-Addo campaign, whether political advisors, lawyers, activists or the like.
I would appreciate it very much if you could correct your piece to reflect what is true since what you had written in reference to me and the Akufo-Addo campaign is clearly and wholly UNTRUE. I trust that you would be gentlemanly enough to correct your own errors.
Signed
Boakye Agyarko Campaign Manager, 2012 NPP Presidential Campaign
