Begoro (E/R), Aug.15, GNA- The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Fanteakwa, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe-Ceasar has called on traditional authorities to reactivate some of the cultural practices that bring about discipline in the youth.
He said when the norms and traditions of the Ghanaian culture were revamped acts of indiscipline would reduce drastically.
The DCE, who was addressing the opening ceremony of the ninth Eastern Regional Basic Schools Cultural Festival at Begoro on Thursday, said there was nothing outmoded in the style of the Ghanaian culture.
Mr Ofoe-Ceasar said cultural practices such as the Dipo (Puberty) rites was " indisputably, a perfect cultural practice" which prepares the youth, especially the females, to fit in society.
He noted that children of today have "no fears and respect" when putting up indiscipline "because nothing binds on them as in the case of some tribes, where you were ostracized from the society when you indulged in pre-marital sex"
