Rebecca Foundation offer free health screening for women in Somanya

The Rebecca Foundation in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly have held a health screening exercise for women and children at Somanya on Saturday 10th November, 2018.

The exercise which forms part of the Foundation's health outreach program saw about 1,000 women screened of breast cancer, HIV/AIDs as well as other non communicable diseases.

Leader of the Rebecca Foundation health team, Dr. Agyekum Obeng in an interview with Bryt FM Kwabena Nyarko Abronoma disclosed that the health outreach aspect of the Foundation is designed to provide quality health assistance to people in small and rural communities where health care delivery is a challenge.

According to him, the Foundation sometimes support people diagnosed of diseases which needs immediate attention whiles others are been referred to other health facilities for further treatment as some victims are assisted financially considering the state of their diagnose.

Dr. Obeng stressed that even though there are health facilities across all the regions and MMDAs, there are still people in hard reach communities who find it difficult to have easy access to health care adding "they are such people that we want to help".

He therefore cautioned the public specifically women to be weary of their health in ensuring they have good health in order to cater for the home as their primary responsibility.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional Director of MASLOC, Alfreda Aboagye was also of the view the screening would go a long way to help in quality health care of women in the country.

She insisted women needs to be healthy in order to be able to have access to small loans in helping to improve the living conditions of their families as a 'sound mind is a sound body'.

Madam Aboagye was grateful to the Rebecca Foundation and especially the Yilo Krobo Municipal Chief Executive, Ebenezer Kupualor for making the exercise possible saying it has would have positive impact on women.

The MCE, Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor on his part pledged to ensure the people's health needs are well catered for to help in the development of the municipality.

He also appealed to the Ghanaian to rally behind the government in its policies and desist from actions that could affect the unity and development of the municipality and the country at large.
