Reconcile Kufuor, Rawlings - Bishop

Apam, March 28, GNA - The Council of State, religious leaders and chiefs have been urged to reconcile President J A Kufuor and former President J J Rawlings.

Bishop Albert Kwesi Hackman, Leader of Apam branch of the Church of Lord who made the appeal in a sermon at an Easter service said they should the spirit of the Easter season to patch up the differences between the two prominent citizens of the country, which was contributing to the polarisation of the society.


By uniting the two leaders tension, which is mounting gradually as the result of the polarisation will minimise, he said.


"Christ died to reconcile us with God after we had sin against him and went wayward therefore there is the need for us to patch our differences with our neighbours.

We are looking up to the day that the former President and the sitting President would sit at one table to share ideas and experiences for the betterment of Ghana," Bishop Hackman stated. He appealed to the media to refrain from publishing news, which did not promote unity, adding that, "anything, which go to heighten tension should not be entertained".


Bishop Hackman appealed to the majority and minority in Parliament to endeavour to consensus in reaching decisions to enhance nation building.


He called on Ghanaians especially Christians to support his call with prayers.
