The Police Council has approved the service’s decision to invoke its administrative disciplinary clauses to punish officers implicated in the recruitment scam that has hit the service, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Alhassan has revealed.

According to him, the council gave approval to the various measures being used to bring finality to the controversy surrounding the recruitment scam at a meeting chaired by the Vice President today.

“The meeting endorsed the administration’s readiness to invoke the Police disciplinary procedures to sanction all police officers that have been found involved in this recruitment scam.

“The Council enjoined me to continue to strengthen all my supervisory role to ensure that the task force comes out with a report which will meet all the standards for onward submission to the attorney general for prosecution to begin,” the IGP told the media after the meeting today.

Meanwhile, top police officer COP Patrick Timbillah has been interdicted over his alleged involvement in the fraud.

A committee set up by the Police to investigate the scam traced a letter of the fraudulent recruitment to him, thus his interdiction.
