Mr Goosie Tanoh, presidential candidate of the National Reform Party (NRP) has appealed to Ghanaians to exhibit discipline on Election Day by co-operating with officials on duty including the security personnel to ensure a successful polling.
He said Ghana is at the cross-roads in its political history but can find the way forward when it conducts its affairs with a clear vision dictated by love for one's country. Mr Tanoh was addressing a rally at Nadowli to round off a five-day campaign tour of the Upper West region. He cautioned polling agents of the opposition parties not to be swayed by gifts to abandon the polling stations to allow cheating to be carried out. "From now on let us always change our government through the ballot box and not through the barrel of the gun because the gun has problems which we are yet trying to reconcile". He said if voted to power, the NRP would make the position of district chief executive elective so as to make holders accountable to the people.
The NRP he said would redefine the roles of the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to avoid duplication in their functions and make them work effectively. Waste and fraud will be removed while the teacher and pupil will be made the focus of the educational system by providing the right environment and facilities to enhance teaching and learning. The presidential candidate called on Kaleo Naa Bananwini Sandu, who advised Ghanaians to follow the constitution to avoid any acts that may lead to violence. His tour took him to Kaleo Nadowli, Charipong, Daffiama, Issa and Jang all in the Nadowli district.
