Refurbished MOI Press Centre will make it easy to access information – Oppong Nkrumah

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who has said the revamped MOI Press Centre will make working with the media more convenient and easily accessible.

The rehabilitation and refurbishment agenda was commissioned by President Akufo-Addo in 2017 as part of his administration’s overall plan to improve the working condition of journalists.

The newly refurbished Ministry of Information Press Center was inaugurated in Accra, today by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah expressed his appreciation to the former Information Ministers, Fritz Baffour, and Mustapha Hamid for “laying a solid foundation” geared towards huge progress in the Ministry.

“They say a little of your soul or your spirit is left wherever you have been, and so we know you are home, but more importantly we are building today on your foundations,’’ he noted.

He believes that the ultra-modern facilities will help make working together with the media more efficient in building a better Ghana.

On her part, the Chief of Staff said she was happy that the facility has been renovated to meet modern standard hereby making it flexible for Journalist and the Ministry to put across Government’s policies.

According to Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, it was necessary to appreciate the role played by the Information Ministry in the governance structure hence the need for a new outlook.

“As a nation, we need to recognise the important role that the ministry of information plays in the governance structure of the Country. We know that the ministry has continued to play a key role of communicating,” she stressed.

Osei-Opare in her remarks lauded the Ministry for putting in their best in revamping the facility to build a stronger link between government and the Media by making public developmental projects government has completed or yet to be done for the growth of the nation.

The ceremony was attended by past Ministers of Information, Fritz Baffour and Mustapha Hamid, President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Affail Monney among other dignitaries.
