Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, Member of Parliament for Effiduase/Asokore
The Member of Parliament for Effiduase/Asokore, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, has urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to vote against any candidate who engages in “campaigns of insults.”
According to Dr Afriye, the party’s main opponents, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), may end up using the same derogatory words against the NPP during the campaign for the general elections.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s afternoon political show Dwabrem on September 8, 2025, Dr Afriye emphasised the need for aspirants to focus on telling delegates what they can do for the party rather than engaging in personal attacks.
“Aspirants should tell delegates what they can do and stop personal attacks in their campaigns,” he advised.
Dr Afriye warned that if NPP aspirants engage in name-calling and insults, it could backfire and hurt the party’s chances in the next general elections.

He further urged delegates to reject any candidate who resorts to such tactics and instead choose someone who can lead the party to victory with dignity and integrity.
By doing so, Dr Afriye believes the NPP can maintain a clean and positive image, which is essential for winning the trust of voters.
He emphasised that the party’s success depends on the quality of its leadership and the kind of campaigns they run.
