The Majority Leader, Alban Bagbin, has called on electorate in Nandom in the Upper West region, to vote massively for the presidential nominee of the National Democratic Congress, President John Mahama.
Likening president Mahama to a driver during the NDC’s campaign launch in Nandom over the weekend, Bagbin warned that it will be suicidal to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the forthcoming polls with a fellow Northerner as its vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia being a ‘driver’s mate’.
According to him, with Dr. Bawumia being driver’s mate he lacks the developmental acumen and capacity to bring development to the North.
He said the scramble for the Northern votes is between a driver and a driver’s mate — the former being president Mahama and the latter, Dr. Bamumia, arguing that it is always better and refreshing to vote for the driver, who will be the main architect in bringing sustainable development to the region.
“We have a driver. Somebody is driving the whole vehicle of Ghana, that [is] H.E John Dramani Mahama. We have another brother of us who is a driver’s mate in another vehicle. Now do you want the driver to be in charge or the driver's mate? H.E John Dramani Mahama is the driver of the whole country Ghana, our brother Dr. Bawunia is the driver’s mate of the NPP. Which one do you want?” the majority leader asked mockingly.
Also, he used the platform to urge supporters of the NDC in Nandom to massively vote for the parliamentary candidate of the NDC in the area, Dr. Richard Kuuire.
