Dwendabi (Ash), March 8, GNA- Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, Minister of Regional Integration and NEPAD, has called on Ghanaians to reject what he termed "the politics of lies and deception" employed by opponents of the government.

He said although the government might not have fulfilled all of its promises, its performance had been credible, saying, "we are all witnesses to its visible achievements".

"It is important to appreciate that correcting monumental mess of more than 20 years, certainly, requires some amount of time, patience, hard work and sacrifices", he added.

Dr Apraku, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North, was addressing separate meetings with the chiefs and people of Dwendabi, Konkon and Kobreso as part of his tour to inspect on-going projects in the constituency on Sunday.

He gave the assurance that the government would always remain truthful and transparent, saying, it would never descend to the dishonourable level of telling lies to the people just to get them to renew its mandate.

The Minister asked the people to continue to show tolerance, understanding, goodwill and support for the government as it was working to improve the economy.

He said the numerous projects being implemented in the area underscored the commitment of the government to rural development. Dr Apraku reminded eligible voters in the constituency to register in their numbers.

He said it was only through this that they would not be denied the right to decide who should represent them in government.

Among the projects he inspected were school blocks funded from his share of the common fund at Dwendabi and Konkon, USAID and Ghana Government sponsored six-classroom block at Asuoso, a 730 million-cedi clinic and nurses quarters, a classroom block and teachers quarters and a 20-seater water closet toilet, all at Kobreso.

Dr Apraku expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on the projects and hoped they could be completed before June this year.
