Rescue Haven, an Accra-based Non-Governmental Organization presented some relief items to the Juvenile Borstal Institute on Saturday May 9th 2020, in Accra.

The donation included 10 gallons of liquid soap and 200 face and nose masks.

Presenting the items to the Institute, the Vice President of Rescue Haven International, Rev. Francis Kwafo who is also a private legal practitioner indicated that the donation formed part of the organization’s support to vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented negative impact on vulnerable groups such as the inmates at the Juvenile Borstal Institute which is the only institution in the country that caters for young offenders and juveniles.

According to the Site Commander who received the items on behalf of the institute, the donation by Rescue Haven was well-timed and would help to ensure the safety of staff and inmates.

He reminded the public that the Institute has the mandate to provide academic and counselling services for inmates in order to reform them for the larger society.

He noted that the outbreak of Covid-19 has affected public and individual support to the Institute, and therefore, called for the support of individuals and organizations to the institute in these crucial times
